It can be frustrating when someone else has parked in your designated Popcar bay. If this happens, don't worry, we have a process in place to ensure you won't be penalised, as long as you follow the steps below.
If you're unable to return the vehicle because the designated Popcar bay is occupied:
- Take the following photos where possible:
- A clear photo of the vehicle, showing the registration number (licence plate), make, and model.
- A photo of the parking sign identifying the Popcar bay.
- A photo of the vehicle's windscreen, showing an incorrect or missing parking permit (if applicable), to help confirm the vehicle is not authorised to park there.
- Report the incident to the local council using the Snap, Send, Solve app.
- If you're in Melbourne City, you may also submit an Illegally Parked Vehicle Report through the council's website or email the council directly with the photos.
- Park the Popcar vehicle in the nearest legal, untimed parking space. If the closest suitable space is a few blocks away, that's perfectly fine.
- After you've safely parked the vehicle, end your booking through the Popcar app.
- Email the photos, details of the council report (if submitted), and the exact location/address where you parked the Popcar vehicle to hello@popcar.com.au as soon as possible.
Our Team will arrange for the vehicle to be relocated on the next business day or notify the next member with a booking if required.
Important: Please ensure you follow this process and notify our team. If the vehicle is not returned to its designated bay and you do not follow the steps above, you may be charged a $250 Convenience Fee for vehicle retrieval.
Please also note that you remain responsible for any parking fees or parking infringements incurred if the vehicle is parked illegally.
Reporting these incidents also helps prevent parking fines or supports their review and possible cancellation if they are issued.
