Popcar has 2 CDW options - Standard CDW and Enhanced CDW.
To help you make the best choice for your needs, we have outlined the differences between our CDW options. The information below compares the Total Excess you would have to pay if you choose the Standard CDW, Enhanced CDW, or if you choose not to be covered by CDW at all.
Insurance Excess
Insurance Excess is the amount that you will need to pay for damages to Popcar vehicles and/or any Third Party Claims, before insurance covers the rest. All Popcar bookings include Compulsory Third Party (CTP) and Comprehensive Motor Insurance coverage.
Experienced Drivers
Drivers who are above 25 years old, have at least two (2) years of driving experience, and hold an Australian drivers licence.
As an Experienced Driver, your Total Excess is:
- No CDW: $5,000
- Standard CDW: $2,500
- Enhanced CDW: $500
CDW does not cover Loss of Use (LOU) and admin fees.
Young or Inexperienced Driver
Drivers who are under 25 years old, have less than two (2) years of driving experience, or hold an international or foreign drivers license.
As a Young or Inexperienced Driver, your Total Excess is:
- No CDW: $5,000
- Standard CDW: $2,500
- Enhanced CDW: $500
CDW does not cover Loss of Use (LOU) and admin fees.
Here is a simple example that can help you understand CDW better:
Amanda is an experienced driver* who booked a Popcar vehicle and opted in for the Enhanced CDW. She meets with an accident where she collides into a parked vehicle. The information below shows how the Enhanced CDW will help Amanda in this accident:
- The damage to the Popcar vehicle that Amanda was driving comes out to $2,000
- Additionally, the third-party files a claim against Amanda (the driver) for $4,000 for the damages that her vehicle sustained
- Because Amanda purchased Enhanced CDW, she will only have to pay $500.
The example illustrates how Enhanced CDW reduced Amanda’s total liability from $6,000 to $500. Amanda saves $5,500 compared to if she were not to be covered by CDW, giving her greater peace of mind and protection.
* Drivers who are above 25 years old, have at least two (2) years of driving experience, and hold an Australian drivers license.
Important: Once a booking is confirmed, you will not be able to add or amend CDW. Please double-check your booking details before confirming to ensure the CDW option you wish to select is correct.
